Local Councils (LCs) are the central nervous system which serves Syrians on a daily bases and organizes their lives. They are local governments for Syrian cities and villages. In the cities in which they exist, LCs are the main hubs and executors for development and humanitarian projects. LCs are generators of Syria’s future local leaders and expert managers.
The legitimacy of LCs increases as local people get efficient and fair services and order is restored. Eventually, LCs will turn cities and villages in Syria into livable places that will attract refugees back to their home land.
Building the human resource capacity of an LC is at the core of its development. This is a job SEO has decided to undertake. It will involve;
– building the managerial and leadership capacity of an LC,
– developing specialized expertise, and
– promoting democratic governance
To achieve this goal, we signed agreements with two distinguished specialized Syrian organizations. We are managing this project with our partners: Marifa and Afaq Academy. Our “Beneficiaries” are the Local Councils in Eastern and Western Ghouta and Aleppo, in addition to some civic organizations in these provinces.
